The Big Give Christmas Challenge

Your Donation Quadrupled With The Big Give Christmas Challenge

Afghanistan Appeal 2021

We’re preparing for a large influx of families arriving in Berkshire having escaped the violence in Afghanistan.

To support these families, we are especially asking for donations through The Big Give, as the match-funding will go further to the help and support they will need as they start to rebuild their lives here.

One Donation, Four Times The Impact

Will you pledge a gift to kick-start our Big Give campaign?

Pledges kick-start our match-funding pots for The Big Give Christmas Challenge, and your pledge could be match-funded as much as four times!

Your pledge isn’t collected until after 7th December (when the Christmas Challenge week finishes), and through the Christmas Challenge your donation could be quadrupled by Champion Funding and donations from the public.

Sign up and Pledge here:

The deadline for submitting your pledge is 11:59pm on Sunday 5th September

How The Big Give Christmas Challenge Works

Why We’re Raising Money

This year we are raising funds for two projects:

Our Advice Service

We are raising money to fund our Advice Service that provides free, confidential legal advice and practical support for refugees and asylum seekers in Berkshire. As families arrive in Berkshire from Afghanistan, we’re expecting the demand for this service to dramatically increase.

We are aiming to raise £8,000 to fund this service for at least four months.

Our Drop In Service

We are raising money to fund our Drop In Service that provides a safe space, social interaction, English lessons, access to a Caseworker and much more for refugees and asylum seekers in Berkshire. As families arrive in Berkshire from Afghanistan, we’re expecting the demand for this service to dramatically increase.

We are aiming to raise £4,500 to fund this service for at least three months.

Your Donation Quadrupled

By pledging a gift as part of The Big Give Christmas Challenge, your promised donation could be quadrupled by donations from the public and The Big Give’s Champion Funders.

  • If you pledge £100, your donation could be worth £400.
This would fund a Caseworker for a week providing advice and support to roughly 25 families and individuals.
  • If you pledge £200, your donation could be worth £800.
This would fund a Caseworker for two weeks providing advice and support to roughly 50 families and individuals.
  • If you pledge £500, your donation could be worth £2,000.
This would fund our Drop In Centre for roughly six weeks, providing a safe space, education and practical help for hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers.

We’re really pleased to be taking part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year!

Last year, we raised an incredible £8,200 in just four days and this year we’re hoping to raise even more!

Last year we raised:

  • Pledges from 15 Committed Supporters (totalling £1,860)
  • Champion Funding from The Big Give funders (totalling £1,860)
  • Donations from supporters during Christmas Challenge week (totalling £3,720)
  • Gift Aid from donations totalling £760

This year we’re aiming to raise £12,500 through The Christmas Challenge, and we need your help to do it!

Thank you for supporting us through The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2021 and helping refugees and asylum seekers to rebuild their lives here in Berkshire.
