Christina Barba

Volunteer Administrator

Christina moved to England in 2013 ago when her husband found a job here. He is very happy here, but at first she didn’t feel the same, as her level of English made it difficult to find a job.

She applied to work with Reading Refugee Support Group in August and started to work in September. She is very happy working here because she has the opportunity to practice her English every day and at the same time is getting valuable work experience in the UK. Working as a volunteer in Reading Refugee Support Group, she has met people from different parts of the world, with different cultures and backgrounds, but language has never been a barrier to offering her help to them. She has found volunteering to be a wonderful experience, which has changed the way she sees the world.
